HLB International

HLB International (HLBI) is a firm which was founded in 1969, a global group of independent auditing and tax consulting firms which currently includes around 700 offices in 150 countries, and 25,000 employees. Our firm is represented in the leadership committee by our partner, Detlef Ortseifen; his commitment helps us to co-structure and develop the network.

With the assistance of HLB International, we advise our clients not only on cross-border issues, but also assist them in expanding abroad with their tax and business law questions. And we can also establish group consolidated statements for international corporate groups.

HLB Germany

HLB Germany, our national network (HLBD), was founded in 1974 by our firm in the person of Dr Werner Linn and three other German auditing firms. HLBD consists at this time of 21 independent German auditing and tax consultancy firms at 35 locations with about 1,500 employees. This network is one of the top three German national auditing firm networks.

Each NLBD member covers all service areas of a professional auditing and accounting firm. The special character and strengths of the German HLB Group result from intensive collaboration between member firms. This extends from joint employee training and continuing education in the HLB Academy to preparing current professional topics in professional groups, joint IT platforms to exchange information, maintaining a knowledge database and the use of joint auditing software to preparing and implementing internal and external quality assurance activities, and many additional benefits and synergy effects from which our clients benefit.

We see the HLB network as the “golden mean” between a large auditing firm (“Big Four”) and a locally-placed owned firm. On the one hand, we meet the international needs of our clients. On the other hand, we want to maintain our independence, flexibility and self-reliance in the context of a self-created corporate culture.

Detlef Ortseifen, partner at HLB Linn Goppold, is a member of HLB Germany’s leadership committee, and with his personal commitment significantly helps the network to constantly grow and develop.

Forum of Firms

The Forum of Firms (FoF) is a merger of international networks of auditing firms. HLB International, to which our firm has belonged since 1975, was assumed into the FoF and is one of the organisation's first full members, which was founded in 2002. The form aims to promote uniformly high quality standards for annual reports around the world, for example by influencing legislation and international accounting rules.

A condition to be accepted in the forum is above all compliance with the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)’s issued international standards for quality control as well as regular performance of globally coordinated internal quality assurance audits.

HLB International and its member firms have implemented the required international quality standard for auditing. We are obligated in applying international audit standards to fulfil a special ethical code, and regularly conduct internal quality audits.
